At a TH with crowds of 14er revelers this route will give you some personal space. However given personal space is at a premium these days the following fees will apply:
- One climb of a nasty scree slope to PT13695
- One bushwhacky, route findy, trailless descent of Campbell Creek (my track wasn't too bad)
- Crossing the Lake Fork River
- One mile of being dusted by Texas Wheelchairs on the road back to the TH
But... it is a fun and adventurous day to be sure!
10m - 4150ft - 6.5hrs
Handies from just above Treeline. What a gorgeous basin this is
When I reached this lake I was a little taken back by the ominous scree field that that I needed to climb. So caught in my options that I forgot to snap a shot. However the nasty looking slope climbed easier than it looked with only 30 or so feet of really loose talus near the top
This little guy was waiting for me at the top of the scree field.... signalling that the climbing would be easier to the summit.
PT13695
I think Otina named this 'Lake Rubber Ducky'

PT13795 and Half
Looking west to American and Jones
From the summit of PT13795 I made a game time decision to head over to Campbell Creek Peak (left)
Looking back to PT13795 on the hike to Campbell Creek Peak
I guess I am not going to take the ridge all the way. I back tracked, down climbed and contoured around on the right.
Easy going and back on the ridge to the summit
Half Peak is so cool!
PT13795 from Campbell Creek
After descending nasty west slope I headed down the drainage and back to the road. There was no trail in this drainage and the route finding was tricky.
Campbell Creek I presume
After descending Campbell Creek and crossing the Lake Fork I hiked a mile on the road back to the Grizzly Gulch TH. After not seeing a soul all day it seemed like 14erfest was in full swing upon my return.
