La Sal Range

The vibe I get from Moab is all about jeeps, mountain biking and maybe a touch of climbing. Skiing doesn't really enter the picture. At least in town. So waking up in the desert and getting dressed to go skiing is a little bizarre. I didn't feel like we were actually going to go skiing. Folks in town didn't know what to make of us when we stopped for coffee on the way to the traillhead in our ski gear.

By the time we made the drive up La Sal Loop Road to the TH there was plenty of snow and it definitely felt like winter. Skiing from this trailhead is fairly popular when the conditions are good and there are plenty of rad options other than Tuk.

Combining a weekend with classic skiing, world class mountain biking and desert camping is pretty darn sick. This trip just might become an annual.
