Partner: Solo
Trailhead: Herman Gulch
Difficulty: Class 2
Distance: 11.5m
Elevation Gain: 3600ft
Duration: 3.5hrs
GPX
Gentle hiking on excellent trails. Follow the Herman Gulch Trail 2.5 miles until it intersects with the Contental Divide Trail. Hang a hard right (east) and follow the winding CDT to the summit.
Fun Fact: Don't hike Herman's Gulch on a weekend or holiday... way too crowded! You will be lucky to get a parking spot.
It was a perfect day to tackle Hasselll Peak as it is close to home and I have yet to hike it. However about halfway up I realized that I had summitted Hassell a few years back while mountain biking Jones Pass to Herman Gulch... doh! Unintended repeats are somewhat hilarious. I probably would have picked a different objective if I had known... but had a great day regardless. Always cool to see a mountain from a different perspective. There was even a bit of fresh summer snow up high.
