Wheeler Mountain
S Ridge - Class 3
On a stable weather day we got an 11am start from Montgomery reservoir. After 2.5 miles on the Platte Gulch road we left the jeeps behind at Wheeler Lake. From Wheeler lake we hiked to the upper lake and the saddle at the base of Wheeler's south ridge. This is where the real fun started. We ignored the route description and went straight for the ridge which climbed at class 3 on stable and fun rock all the way to the summit. Our round trip was a little over 9 miles and 3150 vertical.
