S6 Ski
Date: 4/12/2026
Trailhead: Blue Lakes
Distance: 7.8m
Elevation Gain: 4200ft
Duration: 5hrs 30min
GPX
The northeast face of S6 has an Alaska vibe and offers a handful of intriging ski lines.
I first skied this peak in corn in May of 2025 and vowed to come back. Despite a poor snow year, April 2026 delivered powder in spades. If I would have know I would have brought a friend to help put in the wallowy booter. However the solo ski was dreamy and I didn't feel selfish skiing first. :-o
The approch from the Blue Lake TH is straight forward and easy. Follow the trail (in sneakers) for two miles, hang your shoes in a tree and skin to the base of S6's northeast face.
The east aspect of Walcott (S6's neighbor to the north) has some great east facing lines as well. So consider linking these up.
I have skied in this zone 3 times now and will most likely make it an annual... it has yet to disappoint.
