In 2016 Kristi and I (on a whim) did a sunset hike on Phoenix Peak. So when I rolled into Phoenix Park at 5pm I kind of knew I was going to hike La Garita that evening... despite hiking a few peaks on Carson Pass that morning.
Sunset hikes never disappoint and crossing the beaver ponds in the dark at 10pm hoping not to run into a mosse definitely added to the adventure factor.
