I can't say this is my favorite zone. It is a long and fairly unremarkable walk with dry summer heat and horseflies. The peaks themselves aren't overly striking. I won't forget the flys and I doubt I will return.
I did the approach in the afternoon after hiking out from my camp below Rio Grande Pyramid that morning. I climbed the peaks the next morning then hiked out that afternoon.
12992 was demoted from being a 13er by LiDAR

The long walk up the Squaw Creek Valley. Not sure if this valley has been renamed.

The creek is pretty nice as this area can be hot, dry and swarming with horseflies. If camping find shade as the flies will relegate you to your tent.

Looking over to recently demoted pre-Lidar PT12992 . Wanted to climb this and all of the demoted peaks as a nod to the finishers who climbed before me.
