For one reason or another I have always climbed Eolus and North Eolus on the same day as hiking into Chicago Basin. I guess the timing just works well.
Minus Sunlight's summit block, Eolus is the most challenging of the Chicago Basin 14ers. Eolus's class 3 cruxes include the catwalk and the blocky ascent to the summit on mostly stable rock. The 360 summit views are tough to beat.
Although North Eolus is not ranked it is well worth climbing. The easy class 3 scramble to top is some of the most enjoyable in Chicago basin.
