If you are in the area, this is a great route for a chill day on a mellow ridge. The bike shuttle was a game changer!
15.1m - 5000ft - 6hrs 10min
My day started from the top of Weston Pass with a 3 mile downhill bike ride south to north
I hiked the gentle slopes to my first stop Finnback Knob... hahaha Knob!
Approaching Finnback
Northern views of Sheridan(L) and Sherman(R) from up on the knob
On the way to Peerless I ascended Horseshoe's northwest ridge then descend it's northeast ridge.
Peerless on the far right. Sheridan and Sherman to the left
Hiking down horseshoe's northeast ridge to Peerless
Sheridan from Peerless. I think I will turn around now and head back to Horseshoe
Heading back up Horsehoe's northeast ridge
Close to the top of Horseshoe's Boudoir Couloir looking north
Horseshoe Chalet
Executive suite with mountain views
Sawatch views to the west. Twin Lakes below
Looking back up Horseshoe's south ridge to the chalet
Next stop Ptarmigan
Just walkin the ridge. Can't ask for more mellow
After Ptarmigan comes Weston Pass Peak
Looking back north from Weston Pass Peak
Next and final stop Weston Peak. The Buffalos off in the distance
Looking across to Weston Peak. I would take the mellow route around on the ridge
More westerly views of the Sawatch and Twin Lakes
Looking back to Weston Pass Peak enroute to Weston Peak
It is wild how the eastern side of this ridge is carved out and dramatic, while the west rolls so mellow and unassuming. Sherman to the north in the shadow
Sangre snow dusting to the south
My mostly surfy descent route from West Peak. Had to empty my shoes at the bottom of this one
Looking back to Weston Peak and my descent route from the road
