Bloodshaw Mountain - NE Face Ski
Date: 4/5/2025
Partners: Mac Peters, J Weingast
Distance: 15.8m
Elevation Gain:5910ft
Duration: 12hrs w/ some extra credit
I have admired Bloodshaw's (aka Bledsoe) northeast face from Ute Peak for many years. This was the year we would finally get to ski it.
The NE face is a classic steep line that reminds me a bit of North Maroon's north face... steep and complex with a spicy feel as there are plenty of cliff bands to consider.
Despite being visible from the highway, Bloodshaw is remote and adventurous. The northeast face ski line drops 3500ft to Slate Creek.
Would love to come back to ski this one again.
If you want mellower skiing on Bloodshaw, consider ' The Big East' (our ascent line). The Big East is a huge face visible from the town of Silverthorne and offers over 2600ft of cruiser blue skiing in corn or pow. Also a good bail option if the NE face is not in condition to ski.

The top of Bloodshaw's NE face ski line is roughly 0.4 miles and 160ft from the summit proper. We did not summit before skiing

We found a wind slab at the top center punch and opted for a skier's right entrance a little further down

It was warm and the snow was soft. We set off a wet slide or two on decent. The slides made the pitch feel a little spicier

J tears it up!
