Whale Peak

Trailhead: Georgia Pass
Summits: Whale Peak
Difficulty: Class 2
Distance: 9.25m
Elevation Gain: 2780ft
Duration: 3hrs 30min
My intent was to hike Whale Peak from Georgia Pass. However about 1/2 mile below the pass FR355 became too icey to continue... that is where I started hiking.
The road above my starting point was treacherously icey and I about busted my ass a time or two. With the exception of the icey road, it was a gentle 5 miles and 2400ft from my starting point to Whale's summit. The views of Guyot and the Tenmile ruled the day.
I opted for some light bushwhacking on the way back to avoid descending the icey road.

The road to Georgia Pass (FR355) became too icey to drive a little over a half mile before the top. This is where I started hiking.
A view northeast towards Glacier and Whale Peaks. It was one of the most gentle hikes I have been on.
