I had a couple partners on the hook for this one but when they both opted out I kept the plan and went solo anyway.
Having skied a number of north and north east lines recently, I figured I would plan to drop around 10:30am. However I summitted close to 9:00am and ended up spending 2.5 hours on the summit. Summit time included taking in the view and a 45 minute nap. Good thing it was bluebird weather and no wind. Not sure what Petty meant but... The Waiting Wasn't So Hard... and it was completely worth it. What an incredible place to have all to yourself... and the snow was nice and soft for the descent.
This steep line is pure fun to climb and ski.
5.8m - 2700ft - 5hrs (2.5hrs of summit time)
A nice view to the line while skinning up the creek bed
Torreys dominates the views in this valley
Almost ready to transition from skins to crampons. Looking up at the work in front of me
Pretty cool terrain to boot and ski
Looking North to Sniktau and Parnassus
Lots of different ski options up here... choose the one with the best snow
It gets steeper as you climb
Definitely a fun place to be whether you are going up or down
Torreys in prime condition
Summited in 2hrs and 20m but needed to wait over 2 hours for the snow to soften up for the ski. I think I napped for 45 minutes. What a great place to have all to yourself!
Bierstadt, Sawtooth and Evans from the summit
Looking down Stevens Gulch from the top of the ski line
The terrain was a little steeper than I anticipated... but skied nice with the soft snow
Fun terrain and opportunities for some jump turns
Lots of choices
You never look at a mountain the same after you have skied it. Edwards North Face is no exception... such a fun line!
