Mt. Powell
S Slope - Class 2+
Our original plan was to climb some Elks near Aspen. However with all of the smoke from the Lake Christine fire we decided to stay localish and climb Mount Powell.
From the Piney Lake TH we hiked Mt. Powell via Kneeknocker Pass. Our round trip was 11.3 miles and 5400 vertical. Total time was roughly 8.5 hours including a half hour on the summit.
Here is a link for the GPX file from our hike.

It was a hazy day but the valley was beautiful none the less

At one point we got a little off trail. Kristi loves the Willows

After topping out on Kneeknocker Pass we dropped a few hundred feet before ascending Powell
Instead of hiking up Powell's loose south slope we decided to stick to the solid rock just below the ridge
As we climbed we slowly worked our way from climber's left to right until we were just below the summit
Kristi and Peak C
There was some fun scrambling but nothing too serious
